Starrynight Productions, in association with IndyFringe, is now accepting ten minute, one act and full-length plays as well as short and feature-length screenplays from playwrights and screenwriters for the Script Development Series.
Participants will have the opportunity to develop an early draft of their play or screenplay into a producible, quality script. Playwrights and screenwriters will be offered feedback from directors, actors and fellow writers through a series of readings, staged readings and workshops that will occur once a month. The location of the workshops will alternate between Bloomington and Indianapolis to accommodate writers throughout the state.
The Script Development Series is open to both Indiana and non-Indiana residents (out-of-state playwrights and screenwriters with internet access may attend virtually).
Script submission guidelines
Please note: scripts must be submitted in both electronic and hard copies.
- Scripts will not be returned.
- Previously workshopped or produced scripts are eligible; however, scripts that have received an Equity production are not.
- Playwrights and screenwriters may submit a maximum of three submissions at the beginning of each six-month Script Development Series.
- Each submission must be at least ten pages in length.
- Each manuscript must be typed in 12 point font and individually bound or stapled.
- A current bio must accompany submission materials to be used for publicity purposes.
- The title page must include a name, address, email address and phone number.
- The volume of scripts submitted hampers our ability to comment individually on each work; therefore, Starrynight Productions will not offer criticism.
- A fee of $150.00 will be due at the start of each six-month term to cover the cost of hiring actors and facilitation. This fee may be adjusted over time for increased costs. Fees for the November 2010–April 2011 series will be due on November 1, 2010; fees for the May 2011–October 2011 will be due on May 1, 2011.
Playwrights and screenwriters must meet regularly and be actively involved in the program. Participants are not automatically admitted into the Script Development Series and a production is not guaranteed by Starrynight Productions. However, only works developed in the Script Development Series shall be considered for the annual Indiana New Play Festival hosted by Starrynight Productions and IndyFringe.
The annual Indiana New Play Festival features performances and education seminars for theatre artisans. The festival will offer public performances of the best adjudicated plays developed in the Script Development Series.
We appreciate your interest in the Starrynight Productions Script Development Series and wish you the best of luck in your playwrighting and screenwriting endeavor!
